Location

Schwedt and its surroundings

Schwedt/Oder is located in the northeast of the Greater Berlin-Brandenburg economic area, close to the Polish border. Berlin is only 85 km away and the border crossing to Poland just 7 km. It is only 20 minutes away from the northbound A20 motorway, and 35 minutes on the A11 to Berlin. With its 600 lakes and 2,800 km of watercourses, the Uckermark region is one of the most scenic areas in Germany. The beautiful natural landscape of the region offers many possibilities for sport, leisure and recreation. Many waterways and cycling and hiking trails lead to picturesque locations in the Lower Oder Valley National Park.

  • Mittelland Canal connects the Oder and the Rhine (thus providing a connection to the Baltic Sea and the North Sea).

Port

In its current extension stage, the Port of Schwedt has a 700 m long quay. There are 6 berths and two modern loading cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 45 tons. On the 100 metre wide areas along the quay wall, it is possible to handle bulk materials, general cargo and liquid goods, as well as heavy loads. The planned expansion of the waterway will in future also allow access to the business location for coastal vessels.
